Support for AIDS project in South Africa
The Bundesliga Foundation has announced it will be supporting an AIDS awareness project in South Africa, the 2010 FIFA World Cup hosts, with immediate effect.

The corresponding agreement with aid organisation CARE was made by Kurt Gaugler, member of the supervisory board at the DFL and Professor Rita Süssmuth, former President of the German Bundestag and patroness of CARE Germany-Luxembourg, on Tuesday in Berlin.

"We're happy to be helping"

"The Bundesliga Foundation has set itself the goal of helping children in every way possible, so we've very happy to be helping in a country like South Africa where AIDS is a very big problem," said Gaugler. "CARE has been aiding charities for decades now and we're convinced that we've found the perfect partner. In December we'll be going over there to present an update on our progress."

The "Kick it - Choose Life" project offers children and young people the chance to take part in sporting activities as opposed to a life on the streets and offers children a mentoring programme to help them understand the dangers of HIV, AIDS, drug abuse and criminal behaviour.

Myself: " Great to hear this. This is really great charity for all especially Africa and developing world. " -SH
