Today we arrived at our Hotel in Halong Bay, very nice landscape, Hotel is fine, but totally quiet over here, so far we do not see any other tourist. We look forward to a three day boat cruising trip at Halong Bay and new year celebration on the boat from tomorrow on. Nice to be at the beach and sea side now.

Dinner in Hanoi

We just finished a nice and big dinner in our favorite restaurant in Hanoi. Great and tasty Vietnamese food, we really enjoyed it. Also we really like the fresh Vietnamese coffee over here. Last dinner before we leave tomorrow morning for Halong Bay, to celebrate New Year together at Halong Bay.

Afternoon in Hanoi

This afternoon we visited the National History Museum of Vietnam here in Hanoi, really interesting exhibition. Happy to walk together in the museum and to have common interest in history and arts.

Morning and early afternoon in Hanoi

The morning we spend with some window shopping in a mall in Hanoi and after some lunch we enjoyed the early afternoon at the old opera in Hanoi having some ice creme and coffee there. The coffee over here in Vietnam taste extremely good, normally I am more into tea, but the coffee over here is just sensational.

This morning we had a sightseeing tour with a tour guide in Hanoi. We went to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Temple of Literature, old French quarter and some other places.

Our first christmas in real together

In our room at Sunway Hotel in Hanoi we celebrated tonight our first Christmas in real together. Special time with special memories. Some wonderful gifts and surprises for each other. ILYSM

Tonight we attended the Christmas party and Christmas dinner at the Sunway Hotel in Hanoi. Very different compared to traditional Christmas celebration in Germany though.

Arrived in Hanoi...

Late afternoon we arrived in Hanoi, for our vacation in Vietnam. Right now we are at our Hotel in Hanoi (Sunway Hotel), listening in the bar to some nice live music, while having some cocktails.
First impression of Hanoi and Vietnam? Compared to Cambodia and Thailand, I miss the smiling people, most people over here look very sad and unhappy. Also compared to Phnom Penh, from a first impression, Hanoi is far more dirty. But have to be fair, this is just a first quick impression, after a half day only.
But one is for sure, the cocktails at the bar of the Sunway Hotel in Phnom Penh are much better than the ones over here at Sunway Hanoi.

Yesterday evening I received a ver lovely and early Christmas surprise from my one and only. A wonderful red rose and a very nice and beautiful tie, made of Cambodian silk. Really like the colors and it's design. What a special surprise... :-)
